Frequently Asked Questions

Who can benefit from therapy? And, what can I expect therapy to look like?

Most people can benefit from therapy. Whether you are experiencing issues that are big or small, therapy is a safe and supportive space for you to process, learn skills/techniques, and accomplish your goals.

In therapy, you can expect a collaborative, open, safe, and judgement free environment. At the intake appointment, we will begin to gather details about you, your background, family history, work/educational background, relationship history and/or concerns, presenting problems, sleep/self-care, and goals. At subsequent follow up sessions, we will continue to gather details and collaborate on an appropriate treatment plan. Sessions thereafter, the therapist will work to implement appropriate therapies and skills to get you toward your goals. Therapy is what you want out of it and the therapist is there to modify treatment where needed. Once we feel goals are met we can discuss reducing sessions to maintain progress or consider termination. Clients can always return after termination as needed!

How long are sessions? And how frequently should I schedule?

If you are a new client, a thorough intake session will take 60 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 50 minutes long. We can modify session length as needed.

Frequency of sessions depends on the individual and issues at hand. Therapist will offer recommendations once an intake has been conducted. We will then decide together what will work for you and your schedule. For example, majority of clients are seen every two to four weeks.

What ages/populations do you see?

I work with all populations ages 14 and up. I work with individuals (adolescents, adults, elderly) as well as couples and families.

What types of therapy do you provide?

I work with a variety of therapies and techniques. The main therapies/theories I utilize are Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based, Mindfulness, and Trauma-Informed. See Treatments and Services page for more details.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently I am only accepting private pay. I am in the process of credentialing with Anthem BCBS and will update here once I am able to start accepting this insurance. I may decide to credential with other insurances in the future and, again, will update here.

What is the Sliding Reduced Fee Scale you offer?

A Siding Reduced Fee Scale is offered to all clients and is applied to the intake appointment and subsequent follow up sessions. This scale assists in reducing the full fee of intake and follow up sessions to financially assist clients in their ability to afford therapy, The amount reduced is based off of the client's estimated post-tax income (or parents' income if a minor). From there a set percentage off is applied to the fee. This will be discussed before the first appointment. You can decline an assessment for the Sliding Scale if desired.
